The sounds of traffic, honking, cheering, and groups of people shouting. Taken from my window in downtown seattle right after the seahawks won the 2014 super bowl. Mic used: blue yeti (usb condenser mic, cardioid pickup pattern).

Microphone handling sounds for found footage and handheld recorder-style sound design, to give a realistic sense of device handling without adding a disruptive amount of noise to dialogue or environmental sound. I was looking for this on here and couldn't find it, so i made it myself. I figure other people could probably use it too, once in a while. Made by handling and adjusting my microphone, as indicated.
Field recording of a large electricity distribution transformer next to a canal in birmingham uk. There are various sound sources, and beats occur as the magneto-striction is phased by arrival time at the mic. Zoom h2 front mic wind shield some wind noise.
One piece of a bamboo wind chime struck with a rubber mallet quietly, noise removed, and amplified to max volume without distortion. Recorded with a cheap mic.
Banging on a geometric metal sculpture with my hand and recording the long reverberations with a vintage sony f-98 cardioid mic plugged into my iphone 6. I used various parts of the hand, the palm, fingernails, fist, and knuckles.
Each accidental pattern was mined out of a much longer recording. I noticed these interesting sequences of noises while editing other samples over the years and threw them into a catch-all folder. All of these were recorded with a usb-stick mic so they have a nice lo-fi distorted quality. Try looping any of these patterns and you'll hopefully understand why i selected them.
This sound i recorded from 27-th floor on shotgun mic neumann kmr 82i with zoom h4n. Just natural noise of the street, clear and bright. Hope you'll enjoy it :).
This was recorded at a wedding and celebration party afterward. Several hundred people talking in a very large room. It should be random enough to be used for most any situation where one needs ambient crowd noise. This was recorded directly from the on board mic of a full hd camera that uses acvhd. What you are listening to was rendered off at 48hz and 16 bits.
Leaning on my computer chair that desperately needs some wd-40. This time, my mic is a bit further away. For reasons i cannot control, there may be noise.
Some typing on a standard desktop pc keyboard (but you may use it as the sound of a laptop keyboard too). Recorded with a dynamic mic and a directional, condenser mic in a small room, filtered and compressed to minimize noise.
Recording made on 7a. M. At the hotel balcony on a fourth floor, facing outside towards the b1 road of limassol, cyprus. Made with roland r-26 built-in xy mics.
I have a metal container that is used to collect coins. Its lid is on a hinge and when this lid is hit it bounces, making progressively quieter noises each bounce. Fun stuff. Recorded with a boss br864 digital studio and a shure mic.
Opening a frozen roof window covered with ice. After opening there is possible to hear noise from outside (birds and hum) and also some noises caused by holding a recorder. Recorded with sony pcm-d50, built in mics.
Cricket ambience, recorded on a humid evening in the summer of 2011. Some gentle wind noise through the trees is also audible, as are some distant motorcycles and an airplane flying overhead. (the wind noise on the mic briefly becomes loud a few times, but the recording is mostly clean. ).
Sounds of traffic captured from window at 1st floor. Near highway light. Hour: 9pm. Good for white-noise, useful like background for cinema. Recorded with tascam hd-p2 and pair of at 4033a condenser mics in a-b way.

Car idles, then revs for no other reason but to make a noise. Can't remember what type of car it was, but it was blue and little flames came out of the exhaust. Tascam dr-22wl, internal mics, deadcat. 15hz high pass filter.
A stretched out slinky with a contact mic adhered to one end being struck, resulting in strange laser-like "zwap" sounds and other even stranger noises.
